YANG Wei-Lin
Born in Taipei, Yang Wei-Lin received her MFA from Tainan National University of the Arts and BA in Chinese Literature from Tunghai University. She began by incorporating textual symbols and literary narratives to explore personal and familial memories, later shifting to material experimentation, structural exploration and spatial innovation.
Yang has actively curated textile exhibitions to promote contemporary fibre art. She is dedicated to evolving traditional craftsmanship within a modern context, continually pushing the boundaries of fibre art. Her works have earned the National Crafts Award (2004), the Special Jury Prize at Contextile – Contemporary Textile Art Biennial (2016), and first prize at Small Expressions in the US (2001).
